Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin assured consumers hesitant to avail of transportation services that the country has a sufficient supply of fuel, although she confessed that prices were worrisome.
She said in an interview on DZRH’s Dos Por Dos that with the series of major oil price hikes, low-cost modes of transport are hard to find these days.
The Energy secretary said that the Philippines currently has 50 days’ worth of oil supplies—an acceptable amount.
“For me, it’s enough time to find replenishment for what we consume… Fifty days is more than enough, kasi kung um-order ka sa South Korea, isang linggo ‘yan, puwede ‘yang dumating dito ng 10 days. China is the same… Fifty days is not a bad number,” she explained.
Garin reminded that 60 days’ worth of supply is all the country’s storage can accommodate.
