A five-year-old boy drowned in an irrigation canal in Barangay Bulo, Tabuk City, Kalinga on Monday afternoon, March 16.

According to a report by Romeo Gonzales, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Tabuk City received the report at 5:50 p.m. Authorities immediately coordinated with rescue teams.

Search and rescue personnel, along with community volunteers, found the boy at 7:20 p.m. in Sitio Bunao, Sotong Bulo.

He was rushed to Kalinga Gabriela Mihaquim Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

BFP Tabuk City said this is the first documented drowning incident in the city for 2026.
