A fourth batch of Filipinos in Israel is expected to make their homecoming over the weekend, announced the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Friday.

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and Filipino tourists alike who expressed their desire to return to the Philippines were evacuated from Israel to the Taba Border on Thursday, amid the Middle East war.

This batch consists of 26 Filipinos—22 OFWs and a child, plus three tourists.

“Ang kanilang ligtas na pagtawid ay naging posible sa pagtutulungan ng One Country Team sa Israel, sa pangunguna ni Ambassador Aileen S. Mendiola, at ng DMW-OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) team na naghatid sa kanila hanggang sa Taba Border,” the department said in a statement.

Upon reaching the Taba Border, the rescued Filipinos were attended to by personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Cairo, in order to assist with their immigration requirements.

The DMW-OWWA Rapid Response Team took care of the repatriates’ temporary accommodations and other needs as they await their flight bound to the Philippines.

On the same day of this announcement, the DMW warned Filipinos in the Middle East against scams related to the agency’s Repatriation Assistance Program.

The agency has flagged a number of individuals and groups who falsely offered repatriation assistance in exchange for fees or personal information, it said, reminding Filipinos that legitimate assistance should be availed only through official channels.
