

Forty areas across the country are expected to experience “danger” level heat index conditions on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Based on the state weather bureau’s five-day heat index forecast, the affected areas may record heat index levels ranging from 42°C to 45°C.
PAGASA classifies heat index levels between 42°C and 51°C under the “danger” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, while heat stroke becomes possible with prolonged exposure.
The highest heat index forecast for Wednesday is 45°C in San Ildefonso, Bulacan, marking the area’s fourth consecutive day under the danger category.

Aside from the areas under the danger category, PAGASA said more than 30 locations nationwide are expected to experience “extreme caution” heat index levels ranging from 33°C to 41°C.
