Four homicide and arson suspects allegedly involved in the deaths of two individuals whose bodies were discovered inside a scorched car in Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija, have been arrested as authorities continue to search for their accomplices.

In a Thursday report by RH 25 Grace Sansano, one of them is a prime suspect, and the rest are accessories to the crime. Their other accomplices and mastermind remain at large, however.

The four were identified, located, and seized in Mallig, Isabela within 48 hours of the discovery of the crime through intensive intelligence and pursuit operations, including backtracking and CCTV analysis, said Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office Director PCol. Ritchie Claravall in a press conference.

“We confirm that through the swift and coordinated efforts of our operating units, four suspects involved in the burning of a vehicle in the murder case in Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija, which claimed the lives of Michael Odchigue and Regine Espinosa,” Claravall announced.

Odchigue’s and Espinosa’s charred remains were found around noon on Monday, close to a poultry farm. Locals told authorities that the vehicle’s engine was still running when they helped put out the fire.

Both victims sustained gunshot wounds, and several bullet casings were recovered from the scene.

The killing was allegedly motivated by money and a possible debt to the victim, Claravall said.
