Four individuals who identified themselves as “Maleta Boys” allegedly linked to former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co were arrested by police in San Juan City after recanting their earlier statements regarding the flood control corruption controversy, according to a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Friday, September 11.
Eastern Police District Director PBGen. Roman Arugay confirmed to DZRH News that the four were arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 93 in connection with cyberlibel cases.
They were arrested while appearing for their arraignment in a separate case at the San Juan City Hall of Justice before noon.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) had previously filed multiple cyberlibel and perjury cases against the four in separate courts in Metro Manila over their alleged involvement as “bagmen” of Zaldy Co.
As of Friday afternoon, the four remain in the custody of the San Juan City Police as they have yet to post bail amounting to ₱10,000 each.
In an update, the San Juan City Police Station said that the four men had posted bail.
