Police are continuing the search for four more Chinese nationals allegedly linked to the killing and dismemberment of a man whose body parts were found stuffed inside a drum and dumped in Binondo, Manila.
Authorities confirmed that the victim has been identified as a Chinese national after an identification card was recovered at the crime scene.
However, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo declined to disclose the victim’s name as the investigation remains ongoing.
Two Chinese nationals have already been arrested in connection with the case. Police said four other individuals are still at large and are believed to have direct involvement in the crime.
According to Asilo, the four men were the registered tenants of the condominium unit where the victim was allegedly killed and dismembered before his body parts were placed inside a drum.
“Meron pong apat na Chinese nationals na nag-occupy doon. Sila po yung talagang registered na mga tenants ng condo unit. Mga Chinese nationals na… actually at large pa sila at kasama sila doon sa mga kinasuhan ng Pasay City police station,” Asilo said.
She added that authorities are still verifying whether the four suspects were present inside the condominium unit at the time the crime was committed.
Investigators revealed that the suspects and the victim were reportedly involved in a common business venture. The group previously operated a money-changing business, and police are now checking whether the enterprise was still active at the time of the incident.
Asilo said debt is among the motives being considered by investigators.
The gruesome discovery of the chopped body inside a drum in Binondo shocked residents and prompted a deeper probe into the activities of the group. Authorities are coordinating with other law enforcement units to locate and arrest the remaining suspects.
