More than 300 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated from the Middle East arrived in the Philippines on Monday morning, March 23.
According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), a total of 343 repatriates came from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.
Based on a report by Leth Narciso, the group arrived in Manila at around 6:40 a.m. aboard the fourth government-arranged chartered flight. They were accompanied by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. personally welcomed the OFWs.
So far, the government has repatriated a total of 1,420 OFWs, their dependents, and stranded Filipinos affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
These repatriations were carried out through a combination of commercial flights and four chartered flights organized by the government.
The DMW added that the latest batch of OFWs safely crossed land borders en route to Riyadh, through the coordinated efforts of the DMW, OWWA, and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
