33% of adult Filipinos said their quality of life improved over the past 12 months, while the same percentage said it worsened, according to a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The Social Weather Survey, conducted from June 20 to 29, 2026, found that 33% of respondents considered themselves “gainers,” saying their quality of life had improved compared to a year earlier.
Meanwhile, 33% said their quality of life had worsened, placing them under SWS’ “losers” category, while 34% said their quality of life remained unchanged.
The results brought the nationwide Net Gainers score to zero in June, a 26-point improvement from -26 in March.
“The 26-point rise in the nationwide Net Gainers score from March to June 2026 was due to increases in all areas,” SWS said.
SWS classified the June Net Gainers score of zero as “fair.” The survey firm considers scores of +20 and above as “excellent,” +10 to +19 as “very high,” +1 to +9 as “high,” 0 to -9 as “fair,” -10 to -19 as “mediocre,” -20 to -29 as “low,” -30 to -39 as “very low,” -40 to -49 as “extremely low,” and -50 and below as “catastrophic.”
The survey also showed improvements in both urban and rural areas compared to March.
In urban areas, the Net Gainers score rose by 27 points, from -32 in March to -5 in June, moving from the “very low” to “fair” category.
In rural areas, the score increased by 23 points, from -18 to +5, moving from “mediocre” to “high.”
The survey involved 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide, with 300 respondents each from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
The survey had a sampling error margin of ±3 percentage points for national figures and ±6 percentage points for figures in each of the four major areas.
