A total of 322 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait returned safely to their home country on Friday morning, May 15, announced the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The OFW-repatriates were aboard Kuwait Airways Flight KU415, which touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
With them was Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and OWWA Administrator PY Caunan, who flew to Kuwait to personally oversee the orderly implementation of repatriation efforts amid the conflict in the Middle East.
Upon their arrival, they were at once welcomed and attended to by personnel from the DMW, OWWA, and other key agencies to ensure proper processing and to provide needed assistance in the form of food, financial aid, temporary accommodation, and transport arrangements to help them travel back home to their respective provinces.
“Patuloy ang whole-of-government efforts sa pag-alalay sa ating mga OFW, alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na tiyaking ligtas na makauuwi at mabibigyan ng kaukulang suporta ang mga Pilipinong apektado ng sitwasyon sa Middle East,” OWWA said in a statement.
