Thirty-one stranded Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have safely returned to the Philippines after their flights from Hong Kong to the Middle East were canceled, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced.

The return of the workers comes amid ongoing heightened tensions between the United States government and some Middle East regions, which have affected flight operations and travel routes in parts of the area.

In a statement, OWWA said the affected workers were provided with international airfare tickets and were able to board Flight CX901 on March 2 from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for their return to the country.

Upon arrival, the OFWs were immediately received and assisted by OWWA personnel. They underwent arrival processing and were given airport assistance, food support, and transportation arrangements while preparations were being made for their return to their respective provinces.

OWWA assured that it continues to extend immediate assistance to ensure the safe and orderly homecoming of overseas Filipino workers to their families.

The agency also reminded Filipinos in need of assistance that the OWWA Hotline 1348 remains open 24/7. They may also visit the nearest OWWA Regional Office or use the Kumusta Kabayan mobile app for immediate action and support.
