The Council of Concerned Citizens (CCC) in Bacolod on Thursday requested the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to look into 30 to 50 allegedly “ghost” or non-existent, substandard, and incomplete flood control projects in the area.

CCC Chairman Atty. Renecito Novero himself submitted a report of the watchdog organization’s independent probe, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort.

The council proposed that the ICI deputize investigative teams for every congressional district, composed of private citizens—professional, civic-minded individuals.

“We are requesting the ICI, or more particularly the honorable Chair Justice (Andres) Reyes to immediately conduct the investigation. Maybe to go there personally, send some technical men competent enough to verify or authenticate this. And hopefully, truth can be derived from the investigation, corrections may be effected accordingly,” Novero told reporters.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Representatives Marivic Co-Pilar and PM Vargas, whom the Discaya couple accused of having received cuts in flood control projects, have just left the ICI executive session.

Vargas declined to answer the media’s queries following the closed-door hearing, although he assured he would release a statement.
