

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported widespread disruptions in lifelines and infrastructure following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck General Santos City, with authorities confirming that 29 roads, 11 bridges, one seaport, and one airport have been affected.
During a live update on June 10, OCD Officer-in-Charge Asec. Bernardo Rafaelito R. Alejandro IV said the figures remain “temporary or tentative” as rapid damage and needs assessments continue across affected areas in Regions 11 and 12.
“In terms of lifelines naman, 29 roads ay apektado. And 11 bridges, and 1 seaport, and 1 airport. But again, these are all temporary or tentative numbers,” Alejandro said.
He also reported that infrastructure damage has already reached approximately ₱562.8 million.
“Nakakuha na tayo ng around 562.8 million worth of damages to infrastructure covering regions 11 and 12,” he added.
The OCD further recorded 3,169 damaged houses, of which 2,641 are partially damaged and 528 are totally damaged.
Humanitarian assistance has been mobilized, with ₱4.8 million worth of food and non-food items already distributed, alongside 21.3 million worth of supplies ready for deployment. Around 12,086 family food packs have been released in General Santos and Davao Occidental.
For response operations, Alejandro said 3,773 personnel are deployed for search, rescue, and retrieval efforts led by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Philippine National Police (PNP), with more than 2,500 personnel on standby.
Health response capacity is also on alert, with ₱70.2 million worth of medical commodities available from the Department of Health.
Meanwhile, debris clearing and civil works operations are ongoing with 34 major assets and 485 personnel deployed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Emergency telecommunications assets have also been activated, with 73 units deployed to maintain communication in affected areas.
Law and order operations involve 2,496 police personnel and 463 support assets in Regions 11 and 12, while evacuation centers are currently sheltering about 3,700 families or 15,960 individuals.
Alejandro emphasized that all government response clusters remain fully activated as operations continue for the third day.
“Their President is in the area right now to personally assess the situation and provide guidance… lahat po ng cabinet members and major agencies are now on the ground actively participating in response operations,” he said.
