The Independent Commission on Infrastracture (ICI) has identified 28 water assets, including several yachts, allegedly linked to anomalies in the government’s flood control projects, according to officials, according to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort on Dos Por Dos on Tuesday.
ICI-Technical Working Group Chairman Asec. Renato Paraiso told DZRH News, the number of identified assets could still increase as the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) continues its ongoing search and verification process within the maritime sector.
Paraiso disclosed that the water assets are now subject to a freeze order by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), although he declined to provide details on the individuals or entities involved.
Earlier, Paraiso confirmed that among the assets examined were several yachts reportedly linked to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co, particularly those associated with Misibis Bay Corporation.
The official, however, did not confirm whether the assets of controversial entrepreneur of “Siomai King,” Jonathan So, and his business partner Carlito Bonita Macadangdang are also included in the current investigation.
According to Paraiso, a total of ₱4.8 billion worth of assets related to the alleged flood control scam have so far been frozen by the government.
He assured the public that authorities remain determined to track down all assets connected to the anomaly, emphasizing that even those deliberately concealed would eventually be uncovered through the use of advanced technology and modern investigative methods.
Earlier, the ICI submitted its 125-day report to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Paraiso noted that no final decision has yet been made on whether the Independent Commission of Inquiry will be dissolved.
