

Twenty-eight areas across the country are expected to experience a “danger” level heat index on Monday, May 11, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Based on PAGASA’s forecast, the highest heat index may reach 44°C in several locations, including, Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Aparri, Cagayan, Casiguran, Aurora, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Cuyo, Palawan and Dumangas, Iloilo.
The following are the areas under “danger” heat index:
Areas expected to record a 43°C heat index include:
- Laoag City and Batac, Ilocos Norte
- Bacnotan, La Union
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- Echague, Isabela
- Baler, Aurora
- Iba, Zambales
- Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan, Palawan
- Daet, Camarines Norte
- Masbate City, Masbate
- Roxas City, Capiz
- Borongan, Eastern Samar
For 42°C heat index, the affected areas include:
- NAIA, Pasay City, Metro Manila
- Sinait, Ilocos Sur
- Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan
- Sangley Point, Cavite City
- Infanta and Mulanay, Quezon
- Pili, Camarines Sur
- Iloilo City, Iloilo
PAGASA explained that a “danger” level heat index, ranging from 42°C to 51°C, can be hazardous to health and may cause heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat stress, and heat exhaustion.
Aside from these high-risk areas, the agency also reported that 47 other locations are expected to experience “extreme caution” levels, with heat index values between 33°C and 41°C.
PAGASA continues to remind the public to take precautionary measures, including avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight, staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and seeking shaded or cooler areas to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
