A total of 2,755 members of various Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) received a ₱5,000 fuel subsidy during a payout event held at the Dakota Covercourt in Manila.
According to Manila Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Director Jay Dela Fuente, the beneficiaries included drivers who were unable to claim assistance in previous distributions, as well as additional names submitted by the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) and later approved by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under a verified “clean list.”
Aside from the financial assistance, the local government also launched a free breakfast initiative for drivers, distributing lugaw (rice porridge) and bottled water during the event.
The initiative forms part of the “pre-Hot Meals on Wheels” program, which is set to be implemented twice a week in line with the directive of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The program aims to help ease daily expenses for drivers and their families.
Officials said the assistance seeks to provide relief to transport workers amid the continued rise in fuel prices and basic commodities.
