

At least 26 people have died and 14 remain missing as the enhanced southwest monsoon intensified by Tropical Cyclone Inday affected parts of the Philippines earlier this month, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.
Deaths linked to drowning and landslides were reported in Iloilo (1), Zamboanga Sibugay (2), Bukidnon (2), Davao Occidental (4), Sarangani (10), and Lanao del Sur (7).
Nine people were injured, mostly due to landslides, across Benguet, Marinduque, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte.
The missing include residents from Zamboanga del Sur (2), Davao Occidental (5), Sarangani (2), Lanao del Sur (4), and Maguindanao del Sur (1).
Authorities said validation is ongoing.
About 244,000 families, or 1 million people, have been affected. Around 5,000 families (22,000 persons) are staying in 86 evacuation centers.
Damage includes 1,619 houses, with losses pegged at ₱4.18 million for infrastructure and ₱12.5 million for agriculture. Assistance has reached ₱73.06 million, officials said.
