A total of 244 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Bahrain, along with 46 of their family members, arrived safely in the Philippines on Friday, April 3, 2026, amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In a Facebook post, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the repatriates arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 aboard Gulf Air Flight GF154 from Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
According to DMW, before boarding their flight to Manila, the OFWs and their families traveled overland from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia to catch the Gulf Air flight home.
Their repatriation was facilitated by the DMW and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipinos affected by the ongoing Middle East crisis.
Upon arrival at NAIA, the repatriates were welcomed and provided with immediate assistance by the DMW in coordination with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Health (DOH), and other government agencies. Assistance included financial and medical aid, temporary accommodation, and transport to their respective home provinces.
In addition to this batch, another repatriation flight carrying 344 Filipinos from Abu Dhabi is scheduled to arrive later on Friday at Villamor Air Base, OWWA said.
The mass repatriation comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The conflict between US-Israeli forces and Iran has been ongoing for nearly six weeks, with military strikes and retaliations affecting other Gulf states. Around two million Filipinos live and work in the region, most of them as OFWs.
