The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) held its historic first parliamentary elections on Monday, September 14, 2026, with 2.393 million registered voters.
The elections were held after four postponements, marking a major step in the implementation of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, or Republic Act No. 11054, which established the autonomous region in 2019.

The 80-seat Bangsamoro Parliament will serve as the legislative body of the autonomous region, with members elected through a combination of party, district, and sectoral representation.
The elections are expected to fill all 80 seats, comprising 40 regional parliamentary party representatives, 32 parliamentary district representatives, and eight sectoral representatives.
Earlier, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia told DZRH News that voter turnout had reached around 80%, or approximately 1.8 million voters, as of Tuesday morning.
The elections are expected to determine the composition of BARMM’s first regular Parliament, which will exercise legislative powers over matters within the autonomous region.
