Two of the three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seriously injured in an explosion at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have shown significant improvement, with one already transferred from the intensive care unit (ICU) to a regular ward, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported.

According to Labor Attaché Dominador Salanga, one patient has been moved to the regular ward of a hospital's burn unit, while another OFW who remains in the ICU may also be transferred to a regular ward soon.

The third patient remains in the ICU but has shown improvement, is conscious, and has a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15 out of 15, indicating a normal level of consciousness.

Authorities expect the two remaining patients who have yet to be transferred to regular wards to continue improving as their treatment progresses.

The three OFWs were injured in the explosion at King Khalid International Airport on October 10, 2026.

Meanwhile, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia with other department officials and personnel to personally check on the injured Filipinos and assess their condition and further assistance needs.

Cacdac will also meet with Filipino community leaders to convey the message of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and discuss the situation and concerns of Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.
