Two people died while several others were injured after a ten-wheeler truck rammed into a parked bus and a roadside restaurant along the national highway in Barangay Tayabo, San Jose City, past midnight on Sunday.

According to a report by Grace Sansano, one of the fatalities was a 32-year-old businessman who was reportedly watching over the restaurant when the truck suddenly plowed through the area.

A 14-year-old girl from San Mariano, Isabela was also rushed to the hospital but was later declared dead on arrival.

According to authorities, some passengers of the parked bus were eating at the restaurant at the time of the incident, while others remained inside the vehicle, resulting in multiple injuries.

Investigation showed that the truck, loaded with wheat and bound for Isabela, first hit the parked bus before crashing into the restaurant.

The 43-year-old truck driver from Nueva Ecija is now under the custody of the San Jose City Police and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property.

Police said both vehicles were traveling northbound before the incident occurred.

The truck driver refused to give any statement regarding the crash as authorities continue their investigation.
