Two police officers stationed at Camp Crame were relieved from their posts after being named by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) as suspects in bribery in connection with the missing “sabungeros” or cockfight enthusiasts case.
In a Thursday report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa, one of the officers was purportedly a police major and the very spokesperson for the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), a police lieutenant, confirmed PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Randulf Tuaño.
This came as a response to complaints from the relatives of the missing sabungeros, who claimed that a jail warden was orchestrating secret meetings between the complainants and the imprisoned police officers.
Aside from the warden, the HPG spokesperson was also allegedly involved in bribery and obstruction of justice. He supposedly offered the complainants monthly financial assistance if they did not attend court hearings.
