A 16-year-old girl was found dead inside a residence in Purok Lanzones, Barangay Saloy, Calinan District, on Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, following a reported heavy drinking session the day before, as reported by Jhun Suter via Aksyon Radyo Davao.

According to the Calinan Police, the victim’s body was discovered at around 6:00 AM. A witness reportedly tried to wake the teenager for breakfast, but she was unresponsive and showed no signs of life. The witness immediately alerted relatives and barangay officials, who confirmed the death.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on March 21, the victim went to the Bantos River with five companions to swim and consume alcohol. Witnesses stated that the teenager became severely intoxicated.

While heading home, the victim reportedly sustained several minor injuries and bruises after repeatedly falling due to her state of inebriation. Upon arriving at the house, her cousin reportedly tended to her before letting her sleep in a bedroom. She was found lifeless the following morning.

The victim’s remains are currently at a funeral parlor in Barangay Calinan Poblacion. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation and awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death and to rule out any potential foul play.
