A 15-year-old student confessed to sending a bomb threat to Fort San Pedro National High School, authorities confirmed.
Police Captain Melchor Tolentino, head of Iloilo City Police Station 1, said the minor had copied a bomb threat message he saw on social media and altered it before sending it through a female classmate’s Messenger account using his personal Facebook profile.
The message quickly circulated, prompting a report to the police. Authorities initially could not locate the student until his grandmother brought him to the police station.
The student explained that he was merely bored when he copied and shared the message. He also clarified to police that he had no involvement in other bomb threats reported at schools across Iloilo City and province, and that his sole intention had been to send the message via Messenger.
No explosives were reported.
