

At least 15 areas are expected to experience a “danger” level heat index on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.
Based on PAGASA’s five-day heat index forecast, the highest heat index of 44°C is expected in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Mambusao, Capiz. Dagupan City is set to mark its fifth consecutive day under the “danger” category since May 1, Labor Day.
PAGASA classifies heat index levels between 42°C and 51°C as “danger,” where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke becomes possible with prolonged exposure.
The following are the areas under “danger” heat index:

- Virac, Catanduanes
- Dumangas, Iloilo
- Iloilo City, Iloilo
- Borongan, Eastern Samar
42°C
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- Iba, Zambales
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Bacnotan, La Union
- Baybay City, Leyte (VSU-Baybay area)
- Surigao City, Surigao del Norte
- Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
- Butuan City, Agusan del Norte
Aside from these danger-level areas, PAGASA also reported that 60 other locations are expected to experience “extreme caution” levels, with heat index values ranging from 33°C to 41°C.
The agency continues to advise the public to take precautionary measures, including avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, staying hydrated, wearing light and breathable clothing, and seeking shade or cooler areas to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
