A representative of flood control witnesses, also known as self-identified “18 ex-Marines,” said that more individuals are being prepared to testify in an ongoing Senate investigation into alleged irregularities in government projects.

Attorney Levito Baligod said his group will submit to Robin Padilla a list of 14 additional individuals described as former members of the Philippine Marine Corps and former employees of businessman Zaldy Co.

Baligod alleged that the individuals were involved in delivering suitcases of money to various personalities, claims that are expected to be examined by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chaired by Pia Cayetano, with a subcommittee led by Rodante Marcoleta.

He said the list would be transmitted through Padilla, a member of the committee, and that the witnesses are willing to cooperate with the Senate.

“Itong 14 na ito ay handa silang tumalima sa anumang subpoena o imbitasyon po na manggagaling sa Senado para magbigay din ng kanilang dalalaman tungkol sa pagdedeliver ng mga maleta na ito,” Baligod said.

The lawyer added that aside from the 18 individuals already identified, the group intends to present 14 more witnesses, with an additional seven who may testify if needed.

“Nailabas na po namin ang 18, ipapaimbita namin ang 14 pa, at kung hindi pa po kayo kontento, ay meron pa pong 7 na handang mag-testigo rin,” he said.

Baligod said the identities of the remaining seven are being withheld for now due to security concerns.

The Senate inquiry forms part of a broader probe into alleged misuse of funds for flood control projects. Lawmakers have yet to announce when the additional witnesses will be summoned.
