

Authorities have filed criminal charges against 11 persons of interest in connection with the March 28, 2026 ambush in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur that killed five members of a provincial police unit.
The Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, led by Col. Michael John Mangahis, confirmed that charges were filed following a detailed investigation conducted by a special investigation task group.
The cases lodged before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor include multiple murder, multiple frustrated murder, and theft. The charges stem from the attack on personnel of the Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Maguindanao del Sur police.
The ambush left five police officers dead and prompted an intensified manhunt and follow-up operations in the province.
Police officials under the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region said the identities of the 11 individuals have not been made public as authorities continue to track down other suspects believed to be involved in the attack.
Regional police leadership also noted continuing coordination with local government units in efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the ambush.
