The 11-member House prosecution panel will attend the official convening of the Senate impeachment court on Monday, May 18, marking the formal start of proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.

House Prosecutor and Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon confirmed that the full team will be present at the Senate as the chamber transforms into an impeachment court at 3:00 p.m., following confirmation from Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

Ridon said the announcement signals the beginning of the impeachment trial process.

“Full force na dadalo ang House prosecution panel para saksihan ang pag-convene ng Senate impeachment court,” he said.

The development came shortly after the House of Representatives formally transmitted the impeachment documents to the Senate, including 27 printed copies of Committee Report 261 on House Resolution 989 and 27 flash drives containing electronic versions of the articles of impeachment.

The documents were personally delivered by House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil at around 7:22 p.m., just hours before the Senate security incident reported on the same evening.

The House prosecution team is composed of lawmakers from across different blocs, including Manila Representative Joel Chua, San Juan Representative Ysabel Zamora, 1-Rider Party-list Representative Rodge Gutierrez, Senior Deputy Minority Leader Leila de Lima, Akbayan Party-list Representative Chel Diokno, Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Terry Ridon, House Senior Majority Leader Lorenz Defensor, Bukidnon Representative Keith Flores, Cagayan de Oro Representative Lordan Suan, and Dinagat Islands Representative Kaka Bag-ao.

The impeachment court convening is expected to formally initiate proceedings that will determine the allegations filed against Vice President Duterte.
