Eleven were killed and only one survived in a collision between a ten-wheeler truck and a passenger van in Camalig, Albay on Wednesday.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Camalig, the retrieval operation lasted eight hours, as the van was severely crushed and pinned beneath the truck. Authorities managed to recover the bodies at around 4:00 p.m., reported RH 18 Ruel Saldico.

The initial investigation suggests that the truck driver lost control of the brakes. As he drove along the highway, his vehicle slammed into a van. Both vehicles fell into a creek.

The truck driver and his helper also survived the crash.

The driver will be facing charges.
