

Eleven members of an armed group in Lanao del Sur have voluntarily surrendered to the military and turned over 167 hand grenades, along with several firearms and ammunition, according to the 101st Infantry "Three Red Arrows" Brigade of the Philippine Army.
In a report by RH Jun Dimacutac, the surrender was facilitated by Joint Intelligence Operatives under the operational control of the Army's 101st Infantry Brigade, headed by Brig. Gen. Yasser Bara, covering the municipalities of Lumbatan and Marogong in Lanao del Sur on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
According to the military, the former armed group members surrendered a total of 167 hand grenades, two Garand rifles, one M14 rifle, one carbine rifle, magazines, clips, and assorted ammunition to the Army's 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division through the 103rd Infantry (Haribon) Brigade.
The surrenderers told military officials they had decided to abandon armed and violent activities against government forces, saying such actions only brought disorder and instability to their communities.
"The individuals expressed their intention to live peaceful lives away from violence," it said.
They also expressed their commitment to supporting peace and development efforts in their respective areas in Marogong and Lumbatan.
Moreover, the 11 individuals reportedly expressed willingness to become members of the Citizens Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) and work alongside the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in maintaining peace and security in their communities.
