Hospitals in the City of Manila recorded about 106 firecracker-related injuries as of 6:00 AM on Thursday, January 1.
Based on the hospitals’ latest data, there are 95 mild cases, seven severe cases, and no reports of deaths, RH Boy Gonzales reported.
Moreover, Gonzales reported that medical personnel in Manila district hospitals had little to no rest due to the number of patients rushed to hospitals during the New Year’s celebration.
The Ospital ng Tondo recorded 40 victims, two of whom need to undergo an operation after being hit by a fireworks explosion. One of the two victims sustained burns on the face.
Meanwhile, the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center recorded seven individuals with firecracker-related injuries, including a 12-year-old and a woman who sustained burns to the eyelid.
One man sustained injuries on his arm after being hit by a rocket firecracker.
Most of the patients brought to district hospitals in Manila were not the ones who lit the fireworks, but were merely watching or celebrating New Year’s when the incident occurred.
