A total of 100 Filipinos, including 97 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and three dependents, safely returned to the country from Kuwait on Monday morning, May 4, as part of the Philippine government’s ongoing repatriation efforts amid unrest in the Middle East.

The group arrived aboard a Kuwait Airways flight that landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Pasay City. Their return was facilitated by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), following the directive of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to ensure the safe and orderly repatriation of Filipinos affected by regional tensions.

Upon arrival, the returnees were welcomed by representatives from the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), in coordination with the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation, as well as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Health (DOH).

Authorities immediately extended financial assistance, medical support, and transportation services to help the repatriates return to their respective provinces.

The government also assured long-term support through reintegration programs under the National Reintegration Network (NRN), led by the DMW in partnership with 25 other agencies.

These programs include job matching, skills training, and livelihood assistance aimed at helping returning OFWs rebuild their lives and reintegrate into local communities.

Officials emphasized that the repatriation initiative underscores the government’s continued commitment to protecting the welfare of Filipinos abroad, particularly in times of crisis.
