All 10 members of the “maleta boys” who were arrested on Friday for failing to post bail on perjury charges have been released after securing bail at the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Saturday, August 8.

Supporters of the 10 “maleta boys” cheered and applauded after their lawyer, Atty. Levito Baligod, announced that his clients had posted bail and would be released, according to report of RH Tina Nolasco.

Baligod also shared the release in a Facebook post.

The 10 were arrested by the Las Piñas City Police on Friday, August 7, after failing to post bail for four counts of perjury.

Only three of them were able to post bail within the prescribed period yesterday.

Each of them had a recommended bail of ₱18,000 per count, based on the warrants issued by Las Piñas RTC Judge Kathryn Sabado.

Earlier, Baligod showed the media the alleged attempts to bribe members of the former bodyguards who had previously recanted their statements.

The former bodyguards were also expected to reveal who was behind the alleged bribery attempts.

The 18 “maleta boys” are alleged former bodyguards of fugitive former congressman Zaldy Co who supposedly delivered suitcases containing money to various personalities.

Meanwhile, four other members of the group have recanted their earlier statements linking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and other government officials to alleged kickbacks from flood control projects.
