The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that the heat index is expected to reach a dangerous level of 45°C in one area on Monday, April 27, based on its latest two-day forecast.

Based on the weather bureau’s two-day heat index forecast, Dumangas, Iloilo is likely to record the highest heat index for the day at 45°C. This marks the fourth consecutive day that Dumangas has remained under the “danger” category, with its first day reaching as high as 46°C.

PAGASA reported that nine other areas are also experiencing danger-level heat indices on the same day.

PAGASA classifies heat index values between 42°C and 51°C as “danger,” noting that heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, while heat stroke becomes probable with prolonged exposure.

The agency continues to advise the public to take precautionary measures, including limiting time under direct sunlight, staying well-hydrated, wearing light clothing, and seeking shaded or cooler environments to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
