One fatality has been reported in Metro Manila due to the adverse weather conditions caused by the Southwest Monsoon or 'Habagat,' according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa in Damdaming Bayan on Thursday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) confirmed that the fatality was found in a flooded area in Las Piñas, although authorities are still verifying whether the death was directly caused by the monsoon rains.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC reported that a total of 103,274 individuals, or 32,606 families, have been affected by heavy rains, flooding, and landslides across the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and the National Capital Region.
Government agencies have so far distributed nearly P7 million worth of assistance to affected communities.
