A passenger of a UV Express van was injured after it collided with a passenger bus along the southbound lane of Padre Burgos Street, Ermita, Manila on Thursday, May 28.
RH Tina Nolasco reported that the UV Express was traveling on the SM Fairview–Buendia route, while the bus was bound for the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
Authorities immediately administered first aid to the injured passenger, who was riding the UV Express during the incident.
According to the injured passenger, the two vehicles were allegedly trying to overtake or squeeze past each other before the collision occurred.
Other passengers also reportedly experienced chest pains due to the impact, but they had already left the scene before authorities arrived.
The driver of the UV Express claimed that the bus suddenly cut in front of his vehicle while they were heading toward the Lagusnilad area.
However, the bus driver gave a different account, saying that the UV Express suddenly swerved, causing it to crash into the front of the bus.
Both vehicles involved in the collision have already been removed from the scene to ease traffic congestion.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine who was responsible for the accident.
