A man was killed while his live-in partner was critically injured after three unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group gathered in Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City, late Thursday night, February 19, 2026.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in Block 4, Letre Damata. The shooting was reported at approximately 11:50 p.m., with an initial situation report received shortly after midnight.

Authorities said the male victim was declared dead on arrival at Ospital ng Malabon. His 49-year-old live-in partner sustained gunshot wounds and remains in the intensive care unit of MCU Hospital in Caloocan City.

Two other individuals—a 53-year-old driver-security aide and a 48-year-old barangay kagawad of Tonsuya—were unharmed. Investigators said they were able to return fire during the attack, reportedly hitting one of the suspects.

CCTV footage reviewed by responding officers showed the victims seated around a table when three armed men, their faces covered with white towels and wearing caps, suddenly arrived and opened fire. Two suspects fled on foot, while one was believed to have been wounded during the exchange.

Firearms from the two individuals who returned fire were recovered as part of standard investigation procedures. Authorities have launched a dragnet to track down the fleeing suspects as the motive behind the attack continues to be investigated.

The NCRPO said follow-up operations and case build-up are ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and charged accordingly.
