An individual has reportedly died amid the onslaught of Typhoon Tino, the Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) confirmed.

According to a report by Edniel Parrosa, a barangay watchman in Panglao, Bohol died on Monday night while preparing for the impact of Typhoon Tino.

Dr. Anthony Damalerio, head of the Bohol PDRRMO, told DZRH News that the victim was pruning a large tree branch as part of pre-typhoon safety measures when it fell on him. He was part of a three-man team conducting clearing operations in the area.

In a separate statement, the Office of Civil Defense–Region VII said the incident will still be verified to determine whether it will be officially classified as typhoon-related. However, Damalerio maintained that the death was linked to typhoon preparations, citing support from the local police report.

As of writing, more than 43,000 residents have been evacuated in Bohol alone as Typhoon Tino continues to threaten parts of the Visayas.

Authorities remind the public to remain alert and prioritize safety amid ongoing evacuation and preparedness efforts.
