One was killed and three wounded in a shooting incident in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday, April 30.

In a report by RH 19 Jun Dimacutac, the Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station said the fatal incident occurred at 12:18 p.m. close by a small store and a motorcycle shop at Poblacion 1.

The face of the gunman, who was riding a motorcycle when he shot at the four victims, was captured by a CCTV, although he remains at large as of writing.

One victim, Unos Norjamer Hasim, 21, was declared dead on arrival when rushed to the hospital.

The three other injured victims—Norjahir Unos Nangka, 21; Paharudin Usman Kambal, 32; and Jaher Pananguilan Angeles, 25—were injured. All four were married, mechanics, and residents of Poblacion 1.

The local government strongly condemned the shooting incident. In a Facebook post, Municipal Vice Mayor Hadji Oping Ampatuan said such violence has no place in their community, adding that the shooting was a brazen violation of the peace, order, and safety of their constituents.

“Mariing kinokondena ng local na pamahalaan ng Shariff Aguak ang naganap na karahasang pamamaril kanina sa ating bayan na nagdulot ng pagkasawi ng isang sibilyan at pagkasugat ng tatlo pa,” the post read.

“Ang ganitong uri ng karahasan ay walang puwang sa ating komunidad. Ito ay tahasang paglapastangan sa kapayapaan, kaayusan, at kaligtasan ng ating mamamayan,” Ampatuan wrote.

He called on relevant local agencies and law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, so as to bring the suspect to justice at the soonest possible time.
