A delivery rider was killed while a construction worker sustained critical injuries after a pickup truck crashed into a motorcycle along Villamor C5 Road and West Service Road in Pasay City.
According to traffic enforcers interviewed by DZRH, the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup truck allegedly fell asleep while driving, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and ram into the motorcycle carrying the delivery rider, RH Tina Nolasco reported.
The impact was so strong that the pickup truck continued moving and later collided with an L300 van parked on the roadside, where a construction worker was walking at the time of the incident.
The delivery rider was found unconscious at the scene and was immediately rushed to Pasay General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The injured construction worker was also brought for medical treatment due to critical injuries.
Police authorities brought the pickup driver to the Pasay Traffic Bureau for documentation and further investigation.
The Pasay City Police said the driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property in connection with the fatal accident.
