Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said the incidences of the eight target offenses that the police are keeping an eye on declined by 14.69% between January 1 and April 8 of this year.

In the most recent data, Azurin stated that during this time, 9,345 crime events were reported, down from 10,954 during the same time last year.

Murder, homicide, bodily harm, rape, theft, robbery, vehicle theft, and motorcycle theft are the eight crimes of attention.

Azurin asserted that he had taken action to enhance police visibility and reinforce police-community ties across the nation.

The quick response to citizen complaints, police presence in local areas, and strong collaboration with local officials and stakeholders to combat crime, notably the use of illegal narcotics at the barangay level, are all part of the security measures.

The approach also covers the fight against unsecured weapons and the tracking of sought-after individuals.

Based on the most recent statistics, since January of this year, about 7,000 guns have been seized, while about 2,000 people have been arrested for having unsecured firearms.

On the other hand, since January of this year, more than 17,000 wanted people have been apprehended.
