The Luzon power grid will be placed on yellow alert status on Monday, May 6, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Based on NGCP's latest advisory at 8:45, the yellow allert will take effect from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
Luzon's yellow alert was set following the thin supply of power sources.
The available capacity is 15,167 MW, with a peak demand of 13,714 MW.
"4 plants have been on forced outages since 2023, 3 between January and March 2024, and 9 since April 2024, while 1 other is running on derated capacity, for a total of 1406.8 MW unavailable to the grid," the NGCP advisory read.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
The NGCP earlier provided a bulletin for the Power Situation Outlook.
